Kids with Bad Grades Can Have a Great Life  #8

New from Dr. Charles Fay!
Paperback, 17.95

Allow Your Kids to Struggle!

Think in terms of how gold is refined.  Extreme heat is required to separate the pure gold from the impurities in the ore.   If we want our children to develop golden characters a little struggle or "heat" is a good thing.    After all, if they are never expected to struggle at home why should they believe they should struggle at school?

If their teacher expects them to tackle a challenging assignment will they think, "This is not fair! I have rights!"    (Entitlement raises it's ugly head!)

Parents can give their children an amazing gift for life if they teach them that when things get tough the tough get going!  Ahhh but be careful... empathy matters and a constant diet of corrective feedback in discouraging rather then encouraging.  In Chapter 7 of this book,  Dr. Fay offers guidelines for developing a great relationship with your children so that when they struggle your encouragement will help them win with hard-earned success.  In the long run, they will have greater self-respect, motivation, and happiness.
