I almost called this post Castle 101... as in "my home is my castle. " The thing about a castle is... it was a fortress. It is in my imagination a place with a mote and walls to keep invaders out. In times of seige, the drawbridge could be drawn up, the gates shut, and eveyone inside could be safe. Due to the excellent planning and the hard work of all, there would be enough provisions inside to make it through the seige.
Figuratively, atleast, it's still a good idea to have some protection for your castle. It's all about being intentional. How intentional are we about time at home together? The people you spend the most time with are most likely to have the greatest influence upon you. As a parent, I want to be the one with the most influence. How about scheduling more "castle time" at home with the mindset of being at home together and engaged with one another?
